Amanda Millis is an award-winning, independent family and couples wedding celebrant based in Worthing, West Sussex. With over 30 years of experience in the wedding and events industry, she specializes in writing and conducting highly personalized, bespoke ceremonies.

Your ceremony should feel like you
Of course, we can include all those beautiful wedding moments you might expect: vows, promises, exchanging rings and saying those all-important words to one another. But we can also create something that is completely and wonderfully you.
Perhaps that means a handfasting using ribbons chosen especially for their meaning, a ring warming involving everyone you love, or a surprise ring bearer who has absolutely no idea they have the rings hidden beneath their chair! We might raise a glass of Tequila Rose, Fireball or Prosecco, blend wine, light a unity candle, plant something to grow alongside your marriage, or use an oathing stone to quite literally set your love in stone.
Your children can be involved. Your parents or grandparents can play a part. Your dog can deliver the rings. We can remember those who cannot be with you, celebrate your heritage or family traditions, include your favourite music, create a completely new ritual of your own, or simply fill the ceremony with laughter, stories and moments that nobody else could possibly have in theirs.
And you don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you want. That’s where I come in.
What it’s like to work with me
Before I write a single word of your ceremony, I get to know you. Properly.
I want to know how you met, what made you fall in love, what makes you laugh, the things you adore about each other, and perhaps the little things that drive you slightly mad too! I want to hear about your families, the people who matter to you, the adventures you’ve shared and what you want your wedding ceremony to feel like.
You’ll have some ceremony homework to complete separately, which gives me the chance to hear your individual stories and discover those wonderful little details that often make the very best moments in a ceremony. Then we’ll spend time together talking through everything, sharing ideas and working out exactly what feels right for you.
From there, I write your ceremony from scratch, just for you.
No templates. No changing the names from the couple before. And definitely no ceremony that could belong to anybody else.
Your story is told with warmth, humour and sincerity, with plenty of personality and often a few surprises along the way. I’ll guide you through the whole process, help with your vows if you need me to, suggest meaningful ways to involve the people you love and make sure you know exactly what to expect on the day.
One of the loveliest compliments I receive is when guests ask afterwards how long I’ve known the couple, because they assumed I must be a family friend.
That’s exactly how I want it to feel.
Because I don’t believe your ceremony should feel like something you’ve already watched at somebody else’s wedding.
It should feel completely, unmistakably like the two of you.
A bit about me
Weddings have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started working in the wedding and hospitality world when I was just 15, and more than 37 years later, I still absolutely love what I do.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of looking after more than 2,000 weddings, so I bring a wealth of experience to every ceremony. But no two couples, and no two weddings, are ever the same. For me, it’s all about getting to know you, understanding what matters to you both, and creating a ceremony that feels completely natural, personal and true to who you are.
I’m proud to be an accredited member of the Association of Independent Celebrants (AOIC) and a nationally recognised celebrant. In 2025, I was incredibly honoured to win the National Outstanding Couples & Family Celebrant Award, having been named National Runner-Up in 2024.
Those awards mean a great deal to me, but what matters most is how my couples feel throughout their journey with me, and especially on their wedding day: relaxed, confident, completely looked after and free to simply be themselves.
I only ever take on one ceremony a day. Your wedding is never just another booking in my diary. On your day, you have my full attention, my experience, my energy and, most importantly, my whole heart in your ceremony.
Because after all these years, I still get excited about every single wedding, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Why choose a celebrant?
Choosing a celebrant gives you freedom: freedom to create a wedding ceremony without being restricted by a set format or a list of things you have to say or do.
Your legal marriage can be completed separately with the registrars, leaving us free to make your wedding ceremony the part that is completely personal to you.
That means we can tell your whole story. We can laugh. We can remember people who can’t be there. We can involve your children, parents, grandparents, best friends, and even your pets. We can include traditions from different cultures or faiths, favourite music, meaningful readings, personal vows, surprise moments and rituals created especially for you.
And we don’t have to do something simply because “that’s what happens at a wedding.” If it means something to you, we’ll find a way to include it. If it doesn’t, we leave it out.
Most importantly, you don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what you want. That’s part of my job. With more than 37 years in the wedding world, I have plenty of ideas tucked away! I’ll listen, guide you, make suggestions and help you create those moments that your guests won’t just watch, but genuinely feel part of.
Because your ceremony isn’t about following somebody else’s rules or recreating somebody else’s wedding. It’s about your personalities, your people, your story and your love.
